Mysuru: Four from a family met a watery grave here as a vehicle they were travelling in plunged into an open canal at Kamaravalli in Periyapatna Taluk.
The deceased have been identified as Palaniswami (50), his wife Sanju (40), daughter Poornima (17) and son Nikhil (15).
It is gathered that the family was travelling from Napoklu in Kodagu. When the Maruti van reached near Kamaravalli, the man behind the wheel lost control and the vehicle plunged into the flowing Harangi Canal.
Bettadapura Police rushed to the accident spot and arranged to lift the vehicle out of the water. However, none could be saved. A case has been registered in this regard at the Bettadapura Police Station.
