Namjangud: This year’s Gautama Panchamaharatotsava of Sri Kanteshwaraswami Temple, known as Kashi of the south has been cancelled. The order has been made by deputy commissioner Rohini Sindhuri in the wake of Corona spread. However, this move has drawn the ire of locals fearing backlash from the divine.
Sindhuri has ordered to hold rathotsava using a small chariot and assistance of priests, staff and locals could be sought, she observed. However, rituals can be held between March 19 and 30 in the precincts of the temple, she said.
Locals opined that let there be a ban on the visit of people from outside the taluk and state but not stopping the normal rathotsava rituals.
