Mysuru: Independent MLC candidate Ayub Khan, who is contesting the elections to the Legislative Council from the Mysuru–Chamarajanagar local bodies’ constituency, clarified that the charges made against him with regard to him trying to woo gram panchayat members by sending them gold-plated coins by post is false and is a political conspiracy.
Addressing a press meet, Khan said that he has not sent any gold-plated coins to lure voters and has not violated the electoral conduct.
“I had distributed gold-plated coins under the mega rural development scheme ‘Grama Jyothi’ much before the council polls were declared. But a few political leaders are distributing those coins through a postmaster named Narayana Singh. I have filed a complaint against the postmaster”, he said.
On November 23, the council polls were declared. On November 24, during the winter session, the government decided to extend TP, ZP a presidential term for 5 years – MOS status for ZP president to woo the gram panchayat members.
“I have filed a complaint to election commission in this regard”, Khan said.
