Mysuru: Newly crowned King Yaduveer Krishnadutta Chamaraja Wadeyar performed the rituals of Ayudha Pooja, offering a traditional ceremony on weapons, followed by a pooja kusmananda (cutting of ash gourd) inside the Amba Vilasa Palace here.
This was followed by a procession to Bhuvaneswari temple where the weapons are carried in a golden palanquin. The King also performed rituals on the elephants, cows, horses and other animals during the ceremony. A slice of ancient tradition unfolded during the ceremony, bringing alive memories of a bygone era.
The royal family members also performed pooja to their number of vehicles lined up. Meanwhile, the forest department officials conducted special poojas to 12 elephants led by Arjuna, who carried the golden howdah, at the palace court yard. The police officials also offered worship to weapons, guns and other equipments in the palace premises.
