Kodagu: The Forest Department is now charging an entry fee for inter-state tourists arriving in Nagarahole Tiger Reserves for their vehicle.

The price of the light motor vehicle Rs. 20, for heavy vehicle it has been fixed at Rs. 50. With this order of the Forest Department, the fee will now be collected at the check gates of protected forests such as Anechokkars, Maldare, Kutta, Nagarahole Begur, Karmadu etc.

The rule has been implemented with a view to developing the forest fringe road and maintaining cleanliness by tourists.

Now most of the people in Kerala are vehemently opposed to the collection of fees by the Forest Department Personnel at the checking gates, complaining that time is being wasted as they are collecting money by blocking their vehicle at the checking gates.

The staff there are now experiencing arguments on a daily basis at the check gates.
