Kodagu: A local court here sentenced four people to life imprisonment for murdering a woman as part of a black magic ritual. The judgment was passed by the District Sessions Court in Madikeri.
According to sources, Dharani Bolavva, a resident of Boikeri near Madikeri, was sheltering a self-proclaimed sorcerer Kalidasa Swami aka Mohammed Iqbal. Dharani’s house had been turned into a temple by the sorcerer, who used it for his black magic practice. People started to follow Iqbal when they arrived at the house and started to visit. Asha, an Ibnivalivada native, paid a visit to the site on October 11, 2015, to offer some puja. But in Dharani’s house, a massive witchcraft ritual was arranged, in which Iqbal, Dharani, and her children Bhavan and Kavan participated in an attempt to gain power.
Iqbal murdered Asha with a Trishul during this time, who was helped by Dharani and her children. Following the incident, they were all arrested.
