Mother in-law dies of heart attack after daughter in-law ends life

Kushalnagar: A newlywed daughter in-law committed suicide and the mother in-law too succumbed to cardiac arrest within hours in a rare incident at Nallur Koppalu village in Kodagu.
The deceased are Shruti (24) and her mother in-law Parvathamma (55). The reason behind the newly wed girl taking this extreme step has not yet been ascertained.

Disturbed by the development, Ganesh, a bill collector Hebbale GP, who is the husband of Shruti and son of Parvathamma too tried to end life by plunging into a flooding stream. However, he was stopped by the alert villagers.

Shruti had ended life on August 8 and unable to cope up with the loss, Parvathamma died of heart attack the next morning.

Now a fight has broken out between two families accusing each other for the deaths. Police rushed to the spot to restore order as arguments between families became intense. Deceased Shruti was employed in a private company in Bengaluru and insisted on living separately with her husband after marriage. Under pressure her husband planned to move to a rented accommodation in Kudige in few days’ time. Shruti’s relatives feel, she died before she could move away from Nallur to the new location. It is learnt Shruti used to record events in her diary and her relatives alleged that her in-law’s family have hidden the vital document. They feel diary will reveal the cause of her death and urged the police to trace it.

On the other side Parvathamm’as relatives have alleged of harassment after daughter in-law’s death which led to cardiac arrest.

Somwarpet taluk tashildar Shivappa too rushed to the spot to assess the situation. The near and dear ones of the deceased were seen mourning in front of the dead bodies, which were later shifted to Kushalnagar hospital for post mortem.

Police have recorder both versions and are investigating. Circle inspector Kyathegowda, Kushalnagar town sub-inspector Poonacha  and Suntikoppa sub-inspector Anoop Madappa were present at the spot.
