The KSRTC Mysuru Urban Division has rolled out a new fleet of low-floor BS VI buses, enhancing commuter comfort and providing a smooth travel experience. This move is part of a broader effort to modernize the city’s transport system. Along with the 80 new BS VI buses recently added to the fleet, the total number of buses in service in Mysuru has reached 554. These buses are operating on all major routes, helping to accommodate the growing passenger numbers, especially during peak hours.

The launch of these buses comes in response to the success of the Shakti scheme, which has significantly increased ridership. The BS VI buses have replaced older models that had accumulated over 10 lakh kilometers, offering a more efficient and comfortable travel option.

In addition to the BS VI buses, KSRTC is planning to introduce 100 e-buses within the next year, with 25 of these buses dedicated to ferrying passengers to the Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hills. These electric buses will also serve key routes like Infosys, KRS, Srirangapatna, and JP Nagar. As part of the city’s push for eco-friendly transportation, there is a growing demand to restrict private vehicles on Chamundi Hills and use only state-run e-buses to maintain the area’s environmental integrity.

The new e-buses are expected to be delivered within the next 8-9 months, and KSRTC is working on developing the necessary charging infrastructure to support this transition.
