Mysuru: Once again, Devaraj Urs road, Mysuru’s commercial hub, was all decked up and vibrant as it hosted the second open street festival, organised as part of the Winter Festival. The festival is organised by the district administration in association with the department of tourism.

More than 2 lakh people are reported to have thronged the street from the morning hours till 9 pm.

Many youngsters were part of the gathering and the mood was unlike that of most days. People were seen dancing, eating, shopping, and taking selfies. As music boomed along the stretch of road – which was made traffic free for the occasion – tourists, shoppers, and locals, sauntered about, purchasing and window shopping, playing games, eating and drinking from food trucks and coffee counters.

Musical performances and folk artistes, kept visitors entertained throughout the day, while men in stilts became the most sought after selfie partners. About 50 makeshift shops were set up along the road. Deputy Commissioner D Randeep said, “We have received an overwhelming response for the event. Even more than what we saw during first street festival in the last week of September. More than 2 lakh people have attended the open street festival which started at 6 am in the morning and went on till 9 pm.”
