Lone Elephant Disrupts Traffic on Bandipur Route
A wild elephant continues to roam the Bandipur-Gundlupet-Ooty road, bringing vehicles to a halt as it searches for food. The lone tusker specifically targets vegetable-laden trucks, tearing through tarpaulins with its tusks to access the produce inside.
The unusual sight has left travelers shaken, with bikers and car passengers stranded for hours due to the massive traffic jam stretching several kilometers. The elephant’s presence has turned the highway into a bottleneck, with commuters watching in fear as it ambles through the road.
Adding to the chaos, a cat playfully interacts with the elephant while a rat scrambles for survival amidst the commotion. The repeated roadblocks have forced the Forest Department to intervene. Officials rushed to the scene, attempting to drive the elephant back into the forest and restore normalcy.
This recurring issue highlights the increasing human-wildlife conflict in the region, emphasizing the need for sustainable solutions to protect both travelers and wild animals.
