Madikeri: Kodagu Hakku Samrakshana Samiti has warned the state government of an intense fight for statehood status for Kodagu if it goes ahead with the Tipu Jayanthi celebration on November 10.
Addressing a news conference Samiti Convener Rozy Chinnappa alleged the state government of using the Tipu Jayanthi issue for its own political gains and said that if the state government does not shed its rigid attitude then it will lead to division of state.
“If the state government celebrates Tipu Jayanthi on Nov 10, then the fight for separate Kodava state will begin on November 11 at Talacauvery itself in a peaceful manner,” Chinnappa said adding that history has shown that Tipu was responsible for cold-blooded killings of the Kodavas and also their forceful religious conversion. Now, there are efforts being made to rewrite history.
People of Hyderabad Karnataka have already started their fight for separate state on November 1 while the people of coastal Karnataka too are gearing up to demand for separate Tulunadu. If the government continues to make wrong decisions, then the entire state will broken into pieces, he opined.
