Dis admin annouces arrangements for “Tula Sankramana” celebration

Madikeri: Arrangements for the celebration of the Hindu holy day “Tula Sankarmana” are being undertaken by the district administration.

Deputy Commissioner Anees Kanmani Joy, on Wednesday, October 16, gave the details of the arrangements being made.

The celebration will be held on October 18 at the auspicious muhartam (time) 12:59 AM as the teertha at Talacauvery will rise around this time.

Just like every other year, thousands of devotees are expected to gather here for the occasion.

The roads leading to Talacauvery at Bhagamandala have already been repaired and bus arrangements to the venue have been made.

Barricades have been installed for the smooth movement of devotees and plastic bottles to collect the holy Cauvery theertha have been completely banned. The district administration insists that the devotees get copper or steel vessels to collect the theertha.

Along with a variety of lights, two LED screens have also been installed at the venue for all to see the auspicious moment.

As many as eight DySPs, 15 PSIs, 57 ASIs, 133 head constables, 238 police, 80 women police, 150 homeguards and seven DARs have been deployed for additional security. Two fire fighting teams have also been deployed.

Drinking water facility has been arranged in the temple premises and a team of doctors, along with ambulance facility, have been provided.

The main priest, Narayanachar informed that the “Theerthotsav” will be witnessed on the auspicious Karkataka lagnam at Sri Kshetra Talacauvery.

For transportation, KSRTC unit manager Geetha said that 10 KSRTC buses have been deployed and for travel between Madikeri to Bhagamandala, 10 to 20 buses have been arranged.

In order to maintain law and order, liquor supply has been strictly prohibited on October 17 and 18. Liquor shops within a 20-km area have been asked to shut down on the specified days.

The district administration has also decided to make some of the routes one-way on both the days so as to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

Vehicles coming from Mangaluru will take the Talatmane-Udotmotte-Appangal route and vehicles going from Bhagamandala to Madikeri and Mangaluru will take the Appangal-Panya-Katkeri route.
