Madikeri: This is not a road to travel because it has virtually turned into slushy field. Filled with mud, this road passes through Suntikoppa Tata Coffee estate which is not been upgraded for many years. Residents have been facing problems every day, due to not having a better road here, sources said.
Central government’s new project Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana had plans to develop roads in the rural area. It had decided to develop this 7.5km road but the work is still pending due to contractor’s negligence.
The Suntikoppa Tata coffee estate road which gives access to Mattathadu, Paplikadu, Haleri and Kandanakolli connects Madikeri state highway. In 2014, under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, the work of developing the 7.5km road was undertaken. However due to unscientific work undertaken by concerned department and the contractor, locals are suffering.
Everyday hundreds of school children use this pathetic road. It is full of mud and people cannot walk in this road. Even they can’t hire vehicles as they refuse to take this road. Locals have to walk upto main road in this road which is in very bad state.
So far nobody has shown any interest to solve this issue.
