Madikeri: Call it behavioural attitude, friendly feeling or anything that goes with the act ….but the action of the Congress district president embarrassed none other than Member of Legislative Council Veena Achaiah.
In the video that has gone viral, T P Ramesh, District Congress President is seen crossing the “Lakshman Rekha” at a public meeting held in the town today. In the video, Lakshmi Achaiah appears to politely tell the fellow Congressman sitting beside her to “mind himself” during the meeting presided over by District In-charge Minister M R Seetharam.
Reacting on the incident, an embarrassed Veena Achaiah said it was uncalled for one to behave in such a manner in public. “We work together as party members and it is important to respect women folk”, she added.
T P Ramesh, who gathered all the courage to “stretch his hand” was unavailable for comment for a long time!
However, later, reacting to the controversy, Ramesh said, “Veena and I are from the same region and she is like my sister. We were only discussing about health issues. My intention was not to touch her inappropriately. The video is being shared to defame me.”
Meanwhile, the party has reportedly said that it would verify the video and punish the leader if found guilty.
