Police nab burglars, recover revolver, guns and jewels worth Rs 13.67 lakhs

Madikeri: The Madikeri town police in coordination with the crime branch sleuths nabbed three burglars involved in multiple burglaries in the recent past in different part of Kodagu. Police confiscated a revolver, guns and stolen jewels valued over Rs 13.67 lakhs from the nabbed trio.

Salim (32) native of Ulikkal in Iritty of Kerala now residing in Gandhinagar, Somwarpet, K Sharath (25), resident of Gargandur in Suntikoppa and Anil Kumar, resident of Gandhinagar were nabbed by the police. One more accused Savin is absconding.

The gang had successfully burgled the residence of Pushpavathi in Gonikoppa limits on July 16. On July 28 they entered the residence of Cariappa in Jayanagaar locality of Madikeri and stole a revolver along with other valuables. In the last incident they burgled the residence of N U Gautham, residing in Rifle range area of the city and managed to decamp with STBL gun and other valuables.

Police seized one revolver, three bullets, STBL guns, 13.67 lakh worth jewels, car employed in the operation and one two-wheeler purchased from stolen cash.

Kodgau SP Rajendra Prasad revealed the details of the seizure during a press conference and announced cash rewards of Rs 10,000 to both police teams involved in nabbing the accused.
