Madikeri: The Kodagu District Convener for Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan, Thennira Myna said that the association severely condemned the derogatory statement made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi against former prime minister Late Rajiv Gandhi.
Speaking to media persons, Myna said, “Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed his life for the nation. Even today, he is remembered for his able administration as a prime minister. He made India get international recognition by introducing several modern projects. Making derogatory statements against such a leader is not acceptable.”
“He had introduced food mission, education mission and many more schemes for the welfare of the people. By amending articles 73 and 74 of the Constitution, Rajiv Gandhi strengthened the Panchayati Raj system. He is a true patriot who sacrificed his life for the nation. By speaking ill about such a leader, Modi has brought shame to the post of the prime minister,” Myna added.
“Modi has lost his popularity as he has not implemented any welfare schemes. He imposed demonetisation, introduced GST, failed to get back the black money, did not build Ram Mandir and failed to deposit Rs 15 Lakh in the people’s bank accounts. All these factors will lead to his defeat in the election. Modi who has realised his insignificance, has played cheap politics by making low level comments on Rajiv Gandhi,” said Myna.
