Section 144 to continue in Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu till March 31

Mangaluru/Madikeri: The prohibitory order slammed on Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu district will be continued till March 31.

The Deputy Commisioners of the respective district have said that the section 144 will be in force from Sunday 9 pm to MArch 31, so as to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sindhu Rupesh said that prohibitory order will be applicable to entire district. During the prohibitory order people cannot assembly in groups in public places. They cannot organise programmes too.

During the said period all inter-city and inter-district transport facilities will be suspended. Both KSRTC and private buses will not ply during this period.

Conducting summer camps, seminars, exhibitions, cultural and sports events too will not be allowed.

The order also states that the IT and BT companies can allow their employees to work from home.

The industries which are functioning with help of labourers should work under rotation basis and should maintain social distancing.

Devotees entering religious centres in groups too will not be allowed. Venuring into tourist spots and beaches too have been prohibited.

Only emergency services like medical services, grocery items, milk and other essential services will be prevailed during the prohibitory order.

However, fruit, fish, meat, vegetable markets will be functioned as usual. Hotels can run only parcel srvice. Though transport facilities will not be available during the said period, goods vehicles will be allowed to ply.

Adding to this, Kodagu DC Annies Kanmani Joy has said that in Kodagu district, out of eight people who were kept quarantine, four have been tested negative, while reports of four others is awaited.

As many as 247 people who returned from abroad have been kept under home quarantine, she said.

Citing that there is acute shortage of medical staff and para-medics, the DC said that those who have completed their studies and are spending time at home must voluntarily comes out for service.

So far one person has been tested positive for Corona Virus in Kodagu and one person from Bhatkal, who returned from Dubai and landed in Mangaluru has been tested positive in Dakshina Kannada district.
