Madikeri: Talacauvery played host to an enormous congregation of devotees from different regions of the state who had gathered to witness the sacred occurrence of Cauvery Tirthodbhava. At the propitious moment of Karkataka lagna, the goddess materialized as Tirtha at 1 hour and 26 minutes after midnight, offering her blessings to the assembled devotees.

The event saw the presence of notable figures, including Kodagu District In-Charge Minister N. S. Bosraj, MP Prathap Simha, Virajpet MLA A.S. Ponnanna, Madikeri’s Dr. Manthar Gowda, DC Venkataraja, ZP CEO Vanith Negi, Superintendent of Police K Ramarajan, and various other officials. Among the attendees, the newly-wed couple from the cinema industry, Bhuvan Ponnanna and Harshika Poonachcha, also sought blessings from goddess Cauvery.

Devotees from different corners of the state gathered at the location to participate in this sacred occasion and receive the blessings of the Punya Thirtha. The festivities commenced at Talacauvery at 5 PM on Tuesday, encompassing rituals like Sahasra Namarchana, Pusparchana, Kumkumarchana, and various puja ceremonies, all conducted under the guidance of the head priest.

Thousands of devotees undertook an 8-kilometer journey from Bhagamandala to Talakaveri to witness the Tirthodbhava. Adorned in traditional Kodava attire, these pilgrims reached Talacauvery to pay their respects to the goddess. Notably, devotees flocked to Talacauvery not only from Kodagu district but also from neighboring districts and states, including Tamil Nadu.

The sacred gathering eagerly anticipated the holy Cauvery water flowing from Brahmakundika. During this auspicious time of Tula Sankramana, when Cauvery and her sister Ganges manifest as Tirtha, it is believed that bathing in Talacauvery and partaking in Tirtha on this day bestows immense merit.

As the day of Tirtodhbhava dawned, devotees worshiped Cauvery Mata, and the priests present offered the sacred Thirtha to the devotees. Subsequently, people took a holy dip in the pond in front of Brahmakundika. The divine presence of Cauvery Mata left thousands of devotees filled with deep devotion and blessings.
