Madikeri: In a pluralistic society, where diverse culture and multitude of religions exist, the BJP ideology looks ominous, opined veteran leader and former minister M C Nanaiah, while making his intentions clear of joining Congress.
Present at the inaugural of Indira canteen in the hill town, M C Naniah said, “I followed certain ideology and never craved for power in my life. Unfortunately, the Janata Dal (Secular) has discarded me. In such a scenario, in consultation with my well wishers and supporters, I have decided to join Congress party.”
“The rumbling began the moment I was made the chairman of an expert committee constituted by the State government to suggest amendments to the existing laws to prevent sexual abuse on women and children. I maintained an apolitical stand in that post but leaders in JDS could not absorb that. Finally, I decided to even quit that post to keep my party happy but inturn JDS isolated me, Nanaiah rued.
“I joined Congress during Devaraj Urs’s period but later switched to Janata Parivar due to political compulsions”, Nanaiah stated.
“My supporters are looking forward to a political alternative to replace BJP, RSS and came to the conclusion that Congress alone can provide that and hence have decided to the join the party with which I associated in the beginning of my political career”, Nanaiah said.
“The developments in the national level with BJP at the helm look very dangerous”, Nanaiah said.
District In-charge Minister T N Seetharam present on the occasion, welcomed the veteran leader into the party fold and appreciated the decision taken by him to join Congress.
