Major Crackdown: Rs 98.52 Crore Liquor Seized at Mysuru Brewery

Mysuru: In a crackdown on alleged irregularities, a team led by the Joint Commissioner of Excise conducted a raid on the premises of United Breweries Limited situated in the Tandya Industrial Area of Mysore. The operation resulted in the seizure of whopping Rs 98.52 crore worth of beer stock.

During the raid, it was uncovered that the beer manufacturing plant had grossly surpassed the inventory declared to government authorities. The search unearthed an astonishing cache of 7,000 assorted brands of beer bottles concealed within the premises.

The raid extended across various sections of the facility, with UT tanks, silos, and raw materials stored in tanks among the items confiscated during the operation.

Following discovery a case has been registered against 17 individuals allegedly involved in the irregularities. The raids were conducted based on a definite tip-off which received by the district election officer. Who instructed the concerned officials to conduct raid on the premises. The officials found that the actual stock of beer far surpassed the figures documented in official accounts.

Subsequently, the confiscated assets were impounded, and legal proceedings were initiated the accused implicated in the case, said the officials.
