Mysuru: A married man was arrested by the V V Puram police on charges of forcibly marrying a minor and raping her. The arrested is Shivakumar, a resident of Manjunathpura.
Shivakumar was employed as a car driver with a well-to-do family. He reportedly developed an intimate bond with the owner’s 17-year-old daughter. On the fateful day, when the girl was on her way to college, Manjunath waylaid her and took her with him on the pretext of talking to her.
It is alleged that Manjunath took her to Hassan, got married to her forcibly and took sexual advantage of her for three days despite opposition. When the girl intensified her demand to go back home, Manjunath dropped her to Mysuru. The girl then reached home and revealed the incident to the family members, who in-turn filed a complaint against Manjunath.
Quickly responding to the complaint, the police arrested and booked him under IPC Section 376 of the POCSO Act. He is remanded to judicial custody.
