Mysuru: Suspecting his wife’s illicit relationship with his employer, a man kept both his wife and the employer tied to coconut trees for an entire night. This inhumane act took place at Hanumanth Nagar in HD Kote taluk a few days ago, and came to light recently.
Anand, a resident of Hanumanth Nagar married Kumari, hailing from Hebbeguppe in the same taluk 12 years ago. All was well until the in-laws started torturing her for dowry. Anand too joined the league against Kumari and reportedly started accusing her of infidelity.
Anand was running a tractor owned by a person named Rajendra. Kumari had alleged that she and her husband had planned to visit Dharmasthala. At around 8 pm the previous night, Rajendra visited their house to lend some money that they had asked for. While Rajendra was handing over the cash to Kumari, her husband and in-laws gheaoed them, tied them to coconut trees and let the entire village think that they were having an affair. Kumari recalled that she and the tractor owner had to spend the entire night tied to the trees in the heavy rain.
According to Kumari, a Panchayat gathering was called the subsequent morning where she was held guilty of cheating on her husband. As a result, she was banned from entering the taluk. Though she approached the police station seeking custody of her child, the police did not register her complaint, it has been reported.
Upset with this, Kumari sought the help of the Women’s commission. The commission tried counselling Anand, however he did not agree to accept his wife. The commission then filed a complaint with the Mysuru SP Abhinav Khare. A case stands registered against 10 people.
