3 tourists crushed to death in tree fall at KRS, 8 injured

Mandya/Mysuru : Three tourists on a visit to world renowned Brindavan Gardens died when a tree branch fell over them during a thunderstorm on May 1.

Vinod (35), a resident of Kannur in Kerala, Rajashekar (35) of Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu and Hilara are among the deceased. Eight others suffered injuries in the incident.

Many trees were uprooted as heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorm lashed the area at around 7.30 PM local time. Unfortunately, a large tree branch fell over the people taking shelter under a tree near boating point, killing 3 tourists and injuring eight others.

While Vinod and Hilara died on the spot, Rajashekar succumbed to injuries in the hospital.

Many birds taking shelter in tree branches also died following the tree fall. Locals have demanded adequate care to the injured birds.
