Mandya: Minister of Silk, Youth Empowerment and Sports Dr. Narayana Gowda and District In-Charge Minister K. Gopalaiah inaugurated the historic Srirangapattana Dasara Mahotsav along with Shri Shivratri Desikendra Swamiji of Suttur matha on Wednesday September 28.
Elephant Mahendra carried the wooden howdah after the offering of flowers to the Chamundeshwari idol near Bannimantapa in Kiranguru Circle. Kaveri and Vijaya elephants stepped forward with Mahendra carrying Ambari. The performance of dozens of art troupes including Veeragase, Dollukunita, Tamate, Somana Kunita and Navilu Kunita were impressive.
Srirangapattana MLA Ravindra Srikanthaiah, Deputy Commissioner S. Ashwathy, ZP Chief Executive Officer Shanta Hulmani, Superintendent of Police N. Yatish, Deputy Conservator of Forests Rudren, Sub-Divisional Officers B. C. Shivandamoorthy, R. Aishwarya, Tasildars Shweta N. Ravindra, Dr. Bhanuprakash Swamiji, and others were present.
