Mandya: Five persons died and three were seriously injured as two cars collided head-on on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru National Highway near Nagathihalli in the Nagamangala Taluk on the night of Sunday December 11.
The details of the deceased are yet to be ascertained. According to sources, an Innova car from Tamil Nadu left Bengaluru towards Mangaluru. The car crashed into a Swift car, which was coming in opposite direction, after hitting the road median.
Police informed that three passengers in the Swift car, from Hassan and two passengers in the Innova car, died on the spot in the mishap.
Three other people in the Innova car sustained critical injuries and have been taken to the Adichunchanagiri hospital for treatment. The accident happened when the driver of the Innova lost control of the vehicle and hit the median.
Bindiganavile Police have registered a case.
