Mandya: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued instructions for strict implementation of the Act and Rules to prevent unauthorised election expenditure during Assembly elections. Accordingly, the Mandya District Election Officer has informed the public about the money transactions.
No person is allowed to receive more than Rs. 2 Lakh in cash from any one person in the form of a gift on one occasion. A person will not be allowed to transact cash over Rs. 10,000 in a day, while transporters will be allowed only up to Rs. 35,000. Only Rs. 20,000 can be availed in cash while repaying a loan from an individual.
Any person is prohibited from attracting voters with bribes in the form of cash, valuables, gift vouchers, SIM cards, free fuel, travel programmes, meal arrangements, and distribution of liquor, etc.
Any person is prohibited from stocking, transporting, and selling goods suspiciously in a transaction. A team of sector magistrate, SST team, checkpost VST and firing squad have been formed to monitor the matter. These individuals have been requested to cooperate with the public in conducting free and fair elections by cooperating while verifying the documents.
