Mandya: Former Housing minister M H Ambareesh sent his resignation letter to the MLA’s post to the Deputy Speaker Shivashankar Reddy’s office through his personal secretary Srinivas on Monday afternoon.
However, Deputy Speaker Shivashankar Reddy rejected the resignation letter saying that it can be accepted only when the MLA personally submits it.
While a section of rationalists and social activists in the town welcomed the move of dropping him, a large number of supporters have criticised Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for the decision.
Film producers have stalled the shooting of movies as a sign of protest against the State government’s decision.
It may be recalled that after months of speculation about the cabinet reshuffle, as many as 14 ministers were dropped including Ambraeesh last week.
