Mandya: Newly appointed District Superintendent of Police G Radhika is inclined to form a special women police force in Mandya to address the protection and other issues concerning women and children akin to Chennamma Force in operation at Belgaum.
Speaking after assuming office as Superintendent of Police Radhika said police department would strive to be citizen-friendly and take suitable action to control crime and accident cases in the district and added, a close watch will be kept on all illegal activities.
The police patrolling will be made more effective to cut down the number of criminal cases including theft. Emphasis will be developing an understanding between higher and lower level personnel in the police department to make it citizen-friendly in order to prevent crimes in the vicinity of schools, colleges and public places.
The existing rules in force brought in by her predecessor will continue with additional focus on controlling traffic and highway accidents, she said.
G Radhika is second woman to occupy the post of Superintendent of Police in Mandya after Malini Krishnamurthy who served for only one year from 22-07-2002 to 19-07-2003.
