Mandya: In a devastating incident, a Maruti Swift car traveling from Mysore veered out of control and plunged into the VC channel near Banaghatta in Pandavpur taluk, Mandya district, on a Tuesday evening. Tragically, five members of the same family, including a child, lost their lives in this horrific accident.
Upon receiving the distress call, fire brigade personnel and the police swiftly arrived at the scene. They retrieved the car from the water and discovered the lifeless bodies of all five occupants. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations.
The victims have been identified as KT Krishnappa (64), Chandrappa (61), Dhananjayya (55), Babu, and Jayanna, who were residents of Tumkur. Their bodies were subsequently transferred to Pandavapur Taluk Government Hospital for further procedures.
Eyewitnesses reported that the car driver swerved to avoid colliding with an oncoming motorcycle, resulting in the tragic plunge into the canal. Mandya SP Yatish visited the site to assess the situation.
