Mandya: Two guest lecturers in a college at Malavalli in Mandya district committed suicide in a month gap and the reason for their extreme step is said to be depression, after the enforcement of lockdown in the country.
The 35-year-old Kokila and 29-year-old Suresh are the two guest lecturers who had committed suicide within a month. While Kokila was a commerce lecturer, Suresh was teaching history subjects. While Kokila committed suicide by hanging on May 11, Suresh set himself with fire and committed suicide on June 4.
According to the sources, they were downhearted for not able to secure a government job. Meanwhile, their financial condition also was awful as the government has not released their salary from the past several months.
Sudhakar Hosalli, president of the state education welfare committee has urged the government to provide job security for all those who are working as guest lecturers.
