Mysuru: After carrying out a bill collection drive in the city, the Mysuru City Corporation has now decided to act stern and disconnect the water supplies of those who default the bills, with a week.

At an average, every month corporation needs more than Rs 10 crore, which includes Rs 5 crore for paying salary to pourakarmikas and class IV employees. During a drive undertaken on Monday in Ward no-2, which alone has an outstanding bill of Rs 20 lac, the MCC officials could only recover a sum of Rs 2 lac. On Tuesday, a sum of Rs 1.8 lac was collected in ward 7, 8 and 9 where the outstanding amount stands at Rs 4 crore.

The Mayor further said that the houses or buildings including private layout which come inside Ring road should take license from corporation and not from Mysore Urban Development Authority. Apart from this they should also pay tax and get Khatha from corporation. Once they become accountability we can also provide them more facilities.
