Mysuru: During the recently concluded combined budget, the central government sanctioned construction of three Railway Over Bridges and two Railway Under Bridges for Mysuru division, south western railway. The total cost of all the five bridges is Rs 125.42 crore. Among five bridges which are sanctioned includes one behind University of Mysore Crawford hall and one at KRS road near Royal Inn hotel. The other three bridges will be coming up on Mysuru –Arsikere route.
Behind UOM Crawford hall, the authorities will be constructing Railway Over Bridge at the cost of Rs 26.53 crore while on KRS road near Royal Inn hotel, the authorities will be constructing Railway Over Bridge at the cost of Rs 41.83 crore. These two bridges were long pending demand of Mysureans. In both these places there is heavy traffic for the past couple of years, though both were eligible for RUB or ROB, due to various reasons it was kept pending.
The other three bridges on Mysuru – Arsikere route will be constructed at Rs 29.44 crore, Rs 16.46 crore and Rs 11.16 crore. Member of Parliament Pratap Simha said that the overall cost for construction of five bridges is Rs 125.42 crore.
Atul Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, Mysuru division, South Western Railway said “There are various processes, that is we need to invite tender and later hand over the contract. It may take a year to complete the project”.
