Mysuru: “Basavanna fought for equality. But even today, equality has not been found in the society. Violence against women is still going on even today. Basavanna’s imagined society has not been built, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and added that Basava philosophers should work towards building an egalitarian society of Basavanna.

He was speaking after participating in the silver jubilee celebrations of the 25th anniversary celebrations of The Akhila Bharata Veerashaiva Lingayat Mahasabha, Veerashaiva Lingayat Organisations and Basava Balaga Sangha at Suttur Shakha Matha at the foot of Chamundi Hill in City.

Basavanna worked hard to build a kayaka samaj. Along with the Kayaka philosophy, Dasoha philosophy was propounded. Basavanna’s ideals should be inculcated in all aspects of life. There is an answer to all our problems in vachana literature, he said.

He stressed that the ideals of Basavadi Pramukhs should be imbibed and one should work towards building a better society.
