Mysuru: Cariappa apologises to pontiff Nirmalanandananatha

Mysuru: Various organisations of Vokkaliga Sangha on Friday March 24 staged a protest in front of the Rangayana that Rangayana Director Addanda Kariappa spoke lightly about Adi Chunchanagiri Matha Pontiff Shri Nirmalananda Swamiji. After this Rangayana Director Addanda Cariappa said, “I have great respect for Swamiji. I have not spoken lightly and that my statement has been twisted.”

Reacting to media about his earlier statement Cariappa said that he apologises to Seer. Today, leaders of various Vokkaliga organisations in Mysuru staged a protest in front of Rangayana and shouted slogans against Cariappa alleging he spoke lightly about Chunchanagiri Shri Nirmalananda Swamiji in an interview to a private channel and demanded an apology. When the protestors tried to enter Rangayana, the police detained the protestors as a precautionary measure. At this time, the protestors shouted slogans against the police and expressed their opposition. All the gates of Rangayana and Kalamandir were closed as a precaution.

Cariappa told mediapersons that he has great respect towards Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji. “The media has twisted my statement as they want. However, I apologise to Nirmalanandanatha and said that he has not made any light or insulting statements against him, they have used it politically.”

“I am a great devotee of Nirmalanandanatha Sri, and have great love for Vokkaligas. I am not anti-Vokkaliga, and it is not right to drag this issue politically.”
