Mysuru: Modur Gram Panchayat in Hunsuru Taluk has become the only Gram Panchayat in the District to have bagged the Jala Sanjeevini Award.

Modur, the smallest Gram Panchayat in Gavadagere Hobli of Hunsuru Taluk in Mysuru District, has only eight members and the Gram Panchayat comprises Modur, Modur P. Koppalu, Moduru M. Koppalu and Sannanahalli Villages. It is to be noted that under MGNREGA, priority has been given to eco-friendly programmes including water conservation, and construction of vermicompost tank etc.

PDO Prakash received the award on behalf of the panchayat from Rural Development Department Director Shilpa Nag at a function held in Bengaluru.

As per the Central Government’s Amritsar programme, accurate information on water conservation programmes including water utilisation, storage, management, etc., has been submitted to the department online through KML file in a timely manner.
