Buttermilk gravy is a traditional masala recipe of Karnataka. It has a sour and savoury flavour and is delicious with hot boiled rice which is served on festivals and special occasions.
Summer is here and it is the best time to eat curd and buttermilk which is light and cooling for the body. Curd-based dishes like majjige means buttermilk in Kannada and this dish tastes better with sour curd so this broth is a good change from the normal broth.
Buttermilk is prepared by adding sour buttermilk, ginger, garlic, green chillies, red chillies, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, coconut paste, curry powder and other spices to the buttermilk. Especially buttermilk broth is very tasty and healthy and goes well with rice.
