Over the past two months, Mysuru City Police have solved 42 theft cases and recovered property worth ₹63 lakh, arresting 19 people linked to the crimes.

At a press briefing on Monday, Police Commissioner Seema Latkar shared details of the operations. Among the cases solved were eight chain-snatchings, two house burglaries, one theft by an employee, 28 vehicle thefts, and three other thefts. Recovered items included 659 grams of gold jewellery, one kilogram of silver, 27 two-wheelers, a car, ₹2.57 lakh cash, and a laptop.

In Saraswathipuram, police caught a carpenter who specialized in breaking door locks. He used online resources to learn how to bypass digital locks. The suspect stole part of a family’s gold and planned to return for the rest before being apprehended.

Devaraja Police arrested a man who stole 24 Honda Activa scooters using a master key. Most vehicles were recovered in Chamarajanagar, where he sold them claiming they were seized for unpaid loans.

Lashkar Police nabbed three suspects linked to four chain-snatching incidents, recovering 175 grams of gold chains. Vidyaranyapuram officers caught two accused and retrieved 85 grams of stolen jewellery. Other recoveries included laptops, cash, a Mahindra XUV500, copper components, and silver items.

Additionally, 13 people were arrested in 11 narcotics cases, resulting in the seizure of 65.8 kg of ganja and 23 grams of MDMA. One woman among them was a repeat offender with prior arrests.
