Mysuru city traffic police, under the leadership of Commissioner Seema Latkar and DCP (Crime and Traffic) S Jahnavi, have launched an intensified drive to regulate traffic and address the issue of defective silencers on two-wheelers. The four-day special drive, running from August 31 to September 3, has seen significant action against such vehicles.
Intensive Measures and Record Seizures
During this drive, the police have registered cases against 94 vehicles under the Indian Motor Vehicles Act, leading to their seizure. This brings the total number of cases booked this year to 217. In a symbolic and practical move, Commissioner Seema Latkar oversaw the destruction of these defective silencers near the Siddarthanagar traffic police station on Wednesday. Despite the efforts of a road roller, many silencers, costing between Rs 30,000 and Rs 1,30,000 each, could not be crushed even after repeated attempts.
Broader Enforcement Efforts
