Mysuru: In Hadya Village of Hullahalli Hobli in Nanjanagudu Taluk, wild elephants entered the fields and trampled on crops and completely destroyed them.
In the early hours of the morning, the wild elephants trampled and destroyed various crops including maize and banana, which had grown in the fields. The farmers in the field saw the wild elephants and ran away in panic.
The farmers are reeling under the menace of wild elephants and we are not getting the crop we have grown. The farmers are demanding that the Forest Department officials should install railway tracks to deal with the menace of wild elephants and compensation be given to the farmers who have suffered losses.
Forest Department officials visited the spot and tried their best to chase away the wild elephants.
The villagers demanded that the menace of wild elephants should be avoided in the surrounding villages as well.
