Mysuru: A three-day international convention on Bonsai jointly organised by Indi-Japan Bonsai Study Centre and Associated Study Centre began at Sachidananda Ashram on December 19.
The convention was inaugurated by Ganapathi Sachidanda Sri by sprinkling water on Audumbar variety of bonsai plant. Junichi Kave representing Japanese embassy was the chief guest on the occasion.
Expressing happiness over the event he said, Bonsai has a history of over 1000 years.
Sandalwood and folk culture is synonymous with Karnataka state, Junichi Kave added and stressed on the extensive promotion of Bonsai plantation to preserve environment.
Kishkinda variety of Bonsai plant is very popular in India, he stated and later dedicated a book titled ‘Behind the spirit of miniature landscape’.
‘Datta Peetam Sasya Bandhu’ awards were given away to five dignitaries representing countries Japan, USA, Singapore, Australia and Taiwan. Madhusudan from India was the other recipient of the award.
