Mysuru: Karnataka Milk Federation’s (KMF) Nandini is a well-known brand in the State and elsewhere. KMF’s Nandini ghee is the most sought-after brand. But miscreants-run fake Nandini ghee business in the City has left KMF officers as well as consumers startled.

After a godown at Hosahundi, about 10 km away from Mysuru, was raided n the morning of Thursday December 16, it has come to the public notice that there is a ‘gang’ busy making fake Nandini ghee and selling it all over the City.

Based on a complaint, a team of Human Rights Organisation raided the place on Thursday morning to see what was happening.

Human Rights Vice President Pradeep said, “We received a complaint and based on that, we decided to raid the place. The godown was locked from inside and some people were at work. They were using ‘dalda’ to make Nandini ghee. There should be a thorough probe and we have already informed the Food Corporation of India (FCI).”

It is said that the accused were mixing dalda and artificial flavour and ingredients and the pack it in Nandini pouch, thereby selling it to shops in the City since last four months. The accused had set up a large-scale manufacturing unit. While the Nandini original brand costs Rs. 400 plus to a shop keeper the fake variety was being sold to the shop keepers at Rs. 250.

Mysuru South Police have registered a case and are investigating.
