Mysuru: Dasara Sports event din, Sports Commissioner given notice

Mysuru: Additional Chief Secretary of Youth Empowerment and Sports Department, Dr. Shalini Rajneesh has served a notice to Sports Department Commissioner Dr. H. N. Gopalakrishna.

The notice has been served based on newspaper reports that there was no proper food arrangement for the athletes who participated in the Mysuru Dasara Sports event. Those who participated in the Dussehra Games too were paid less honorarium than the fixed amount. Also, no cash prizes were awarded for karate, bodybuilding, chess, blind chess and cycle polo competitions. Grounds are not properly prepared for sports events.

The notice alleged that the sports event has been cut short. Sports uniforms and shoes are not distributed to athletes. Marathon sports have been cancelled. A yoga competition organised by another committee has been organised again. No honorarium was given to the participants in divisional-level sports events. Chaos in the sport of Kabbadi. The Deputy Chief Secretary, who listed the disorder in this way, said it would be disadvantageous to the participating sportspersons and the reputation of the Department would be compromised. Therefore, the Commissioner of Youth Empowerment and Sports Department has been instructed to submit the report on the above points immediately. A copy of the notice has also been given to the Joint Director.

The State Government had sanctioned Rs. 5 Crore for conducting Dasara Sports Tournament.
