Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner Dr. K. V. Rajendra has instructed the officials concerned to visit the polling booths in their jurisdiction and review the basic arrangements for the Assembly General Elections – 2023.
“The polling booths are mostly located in schools and anganawadis. In this regard, tables, chairs, electric lights, toilet arrangements, and water systems should be checked in the polling booths and if there are minor repairs, they should be brought to notice and repaired. All of us Government servants should be involved in the electoral process. In this regard, the Authorities should work as per the election guidelines. Awareness should be created among the voters by conducting sweep activities,” he said.
“The differently-abled persons coming under the polling station limits should personally visit the ramp arrangements, wheelchair and other arrangements,” he said and asked the officials to visit the polling booths where there was low voter turnout in the 2018 Assembly General Elections and find out the reasons for the low voter turnout, organise more sweep activities and increase the voter turnout.
“The Deputy Lokayukta will visit the District on March 17, 18 and 19 and identify the Departments in which Lokayukta cases are there,” he said.
Meanwhile, awareness was created on the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the functioning of VVPATs in the run-up to the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023.
