Mysuru: The District sessions and Principal Chief Judge M. Raghunath on Saturday May 28 recalled a divorce case during his tenure as a judge in Ballari District.

Speaking to mediapersons during Lok Adalat he opined that busy life in urban areas leads to many divorce cases. He said when he was District Judge in Ballari, a couple filed petition for divorce. The husband alleged in his petition that his wife always gave him ready to eat food maggie three times a day. She did not purchase rations for home despite shops nearby. Husband said he was disgusted with eating maggie always.

The judge said both were given divorce with mutual consent. In rural areas, family disputes are solved by panchayats, and women are afraid to honour to seek divorce. But in urban areas women economically self-reliant, hence does not hesitate to file divorce suit.
