Mysuru: Senior Congress Leader Siddaramaiah has no moral right to question our commitment to the minorities, said Former Chief Minister and Senior JD (S) Leader H. D. Kumaraswamy.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Tuesday June 7 he said, “before selecting their candidate, Congress should have consulted us. It is Siddaramaiah who is responsible for BJP to come to power in the State. Time and again, Siddaramaiah keeps saying JD (S) is BJP’s ‘B’ team. He keeps claiming that Congress is the only secular party.
Continuing his tirade against Siddaramaiah, Kumaraswamy said, Some of the decisions that Congress took when I was the Chief Minister used to embarrass us. H. D. Deve Gowda became Prime Minister, not because of Congress as claimed by Siddaramaiah. People had rejected the Congress then and as a result, Gowda got a chance. When he was doing a good job, he was ousted. No one is questioning Congress’ move, he said.
He said, JD(S) was not interested in forming the Government in the State after the last Assembly elections. With no other option, the Congress came to us asking to form the Government with unconditional support. I had to face a tough situation because of some of the Congress leaders. Despite all the shortcomings, I decided to write off farmers’ loans, he informed.
Kumaraswamy said, when our Government was under threat, many BJP leaders came in support but I refused it politely. If Siddaramaiah thinks Congress candidate will get sympathy votes from JD(S) and BJP MLAs, he is mistaken.”
The JD (S) leader said he doesn’t need anyone’s support to safeguard his party. People are not ready to accept Siddaramaiah’s meaningless speeches. After June 10, the people will know which is the real ‘B’ team of the BJP. He said, If Siddaramaiah is ready to accept his follies, we will offer him unconditional support. There is no question of withdrawing JD (S) candidate from the contest as advised by Siddaramaiah. Our candidate stands a better chance than the Congress candidate.
