Mysuru: In separate incidents, two debt-ridden farmers have taken the extreme step to end their lives.
One Ganeshachari (58) of Chennakeshavapura near Bettadapura, overburdened by mounting debts, consumed poison and died. He had borrowed Rs. 3.5 lakh from Cauvery Grameena Bank, Rs. 90,000 as gold loan and Rs. 3 lakh from his friends and relatives. A case has been registered at Bettadapura Police Station.
In another incident, Deepak (40), a farmer of Gavadagere Village in Hunsur Taluk jumped into a lake and ended his life. Hunsur Rural Police has registered a case.
