Nanjangud witnessed the celebration of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda’s birth anniversary, organised by the National Festivals Celebration Committee at the Taluk Administration Building.

MLA Darshan Dhruvanarayan inaugurated the programme by garlanding Kempegowda’s portrait. Speaking at the event, he honoured students who achieved high scores in the SSLC and PUC examinations. He remarked that Kempegowda’s vision laid the foundation for Bengaluru’s remarkable growth.

“His contributions, including developing lake banks, have greatly benefited society. It was during our government, under the leadership of Siddaramaiah, that his birth anniversary began to be celebrated officially,” the MLA said. He highlighted that a grant of ₹10 crore was sanctioned for these celebrations and noted that Bengaluru’s international airport proudly bears Kempegowda’s name.

Addressing the gathering, Darshan Dhruvanarayan assured the community that efforts were underway to construct a community hall for the Vokkaliga community in Nanjangud taluk. He stated that he had already discussed the proposal with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and expressed his commitment to secure additional funds for the project.

Municipal Council President Srikanth, Vice President Riyana Banu, Tahsildar Shivakumar Kasnur, Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Gerald Rajesh, Guarantee Committee President Maruthi, and other taluk-level officials also attended the occasion, paying tribute to Kempegowda’s enduring legacy.
