Mysuru: National Bravery award winner Siya Khode inaugurated the month long children’s festival 19th ‘Samanathe – Chinnara Mela – 2017’ at Rangayana on April 11.
Siya Khode, a class 7 student of Sri Jagadguru Gangadhar Primary School, Hubballi, on the occasion revealed how she rescued her own brother who was accidentally touched live wire.
Khode said, “My brother Yallappa had come in contact with a livewire when I was playing with my two cousins on the terrace of my uncle’s house in Valvekar Galli on April 14, 2015. I shouted for help but there was no one to rescue my brother. I mustered enough courage and grabbed my brother by the collar freed so that he could be separated from the wire. We need to be courageous and women should follow Akkamahadevi,” she said.
Rangayana, Assistant Director Nirmala Mathapathi said, “the summer camp nurtures talent among children and exposes them to outdoor activities, it brings out the best in the children who are imparted training in theatre, elocution, folk art and culture, rural games, singing, dancing, painting besides engaging them in a host of activities to widen their horizons and perspectives. The mela which has entered 19th year will focus on equality.”
International Yoga athlete Khushi who displayed several Yoga postures was centre of attraction.
Rangayana Joint-director V N Mallikarjunaswamy, camp director Mime Ramesh and others were present.
