Mysuru: District In-charge Minister H C Mahadevappa will inaugurate the newly constructed P Kalinga Rao Gana Mantapa at Exhibition Grounds on October 28 at 6pm. The stage will also serve as a platform to promote cultural activities.
Addressing media persons here on Thursday, NM Shashi Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of Karnataka Exhibition Authority, said, “The new stage which has been built at a cost of Rs 96 lakh is built in the model of an open theatre and has separate green rooms for men and women. The stage has nearly 800 seating capacity which is built in an artistic manner. As part of the inaugural function, the authorities have arranged 14 cultural programmes from October 28 to December 3. Cine actor and former Chairman, Karnataka Development Authority Mukhyamantri Chandru will perform Mukhyamantri play which will be directed by B V Rajaram, former director of Rangayana”.
Overwhelming response for Dasara expo 2016
Going by the number of visitors to the annual Dasara expo, it seems that the Cauvery water issue didn’t stop visitors coming to the expo. “Compared to previous year, the number of visitors has increased during this year’s Dasara expo. Already nearly 4.90 lakh visitors have visited Dasara expo which was 4 lakh visitors during the corresponding year,” said Shashi. The dasara expo will conclude on December 26.
