Mysuru: Justice Santhosh Hegde supported the Union Government’s move of scrapping Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes and said that the move will lead to financial equality among the masses.

Taking part in a book release ceremony in November 23, former Lokayukta said, the society is filled with rich people, note ban will lead to a new revolution, kindling hopes for future generations. The numbers of scams have increased in the democratic country and with each scam running into thousand of crores, the number of rich and corrupt too has increased in equal measure, he opined and endorsed the Union government’s move on note ban.

“The budgeted money is not reaching masses where people walk 5-6 kilometers to fetch a pot of water. Unfortunately people garland those who come out of jail,” said Justice Hegde taking an indirect dig at Janaradhan Reddy.

He rued over the decline in the number of politicians with real concern for masses and development of the country and said that only 175 members in the Lok Sabha raised question on development. He said when Rs 10 crores are spent on daily basis to run the parliament, the dwindling accountability of elected representatives is a real cause for concern.

Values are eroding by the day where capitalists rule everything including media and cautioned against the trend where journalists are fast losing their ethical identity in the fast changing world.
